How to go about arranging a funeral service at St Mary's Copythorne
You are very welcome to hold a funeral service in St. Mary’s Church, even if you are planning to have cremation rather than burial.
At St. Mary’s Copythorne we have an open churchyard (for burials and internment of ashes). The church is used for funeral services, sometimes followed by burial and at other times followed by a cremation. Usually, John our Priest-in-Charge will officiate at the funeral service.
John meets with the family a week or so before the funeral to help prepare for the service and to ensure the service is an appropriate farewell for the deceased. At the end of October/beginning of November each year we host an All Souls’ service where we remember by name loved ones who have died. This service is always greatly appreciated by family members both near and far. If you would like a loved one remembered in this service please contact either John or Tom Menzies, our churchwarden.
